| Comfort Quilts 2009-2010

The Comfort Quilts program is alive and well thanks
to the efforts of some very dedicated quilters. The
monthly workshop-bee for this season will begin Wednesday,
September 2, 2009 --- 10:00 a.m. thru 3:00 p.m.. The workshops
will be held the first Wednesday of each month from 10:00 -
3:00 in Saginaw at The Quilted Cottage.
Any donations of fabric, batting, rotary cutters, rulers and other
supplies will be greatly appreciated. For any further information,
please contact Gussie O'Malley or Pat
Letherer.

Operation First Response
As of April 18, 2007, Piecemakers Quilt Guild have made 478 quilts and mailed them to Operation First Response.
The size quilts requested is 24" x 36" small quilts for Iraq back packs. Wheel chair quilts should be approximately 45" x 54".
Contact Diane Jankowski (799-2187) for additional information.
Saginaw VA Hospice Wing
As of May 2008, 38 quilts have been made from donated quilt
blocks for signature quilts for the hospice wing of the Saginaw
VA Hospital. These quilts have been given to patients
and their families. We continue to help them keep ten quilts
in reserve, ready and waiting for new patients.
Quilts should be approximately 45" x 60" with some white blocks and borders for visitors to sign when they stop to see patients. This is a gentle way to let the family know who has visited. The Hospice Wing has one patriotic quilt hanging in their interview room as a sample to show the families when they come to set up a patient for the hospital. Patients come from all over the state.

Salvation Army Dress A Bear Program
The Guild again participated in this program for 2009. There were
50 bears dressed by guild members to help bring smiles to little
faces. They were given to children during the Christmas season
through toyshop, hospital visitation, and homes in the Saginaw
County area.
2010-2011 the guild will again participate in this program
with the Salvation Army.
